Acute and chronic pain

According to the BEK Arztreport 2016, around 3.25 million people in Germany alone suffer from chronic pain. This interferes with everyday life and sometimes even with sleep. Pain, especially chronic pain, is not only related to the local pain site, but also to the spinal cord and the brain. In the latter, a complex network develops with emotions, especially fears, belief models about the meaning of pain, the stress axis and our sympathetic nervous system and social environment. Pain arises when the total sum of individual parts is large enough. The following types of pain can be distinguished:

  • Joint pain
  • Muscle pain and tension
  • Headache
  • Neuropathic pain
  • Radiating pain
  • Organic pain
  • Fibromyalgia pain

In addition to the pain regions, the associated - usually inconspicuous - spinal cord regions and other body regions responsible for sensitising the spinal cord segments are also treated, as well as reflexes between organs and musculoskeletal areas and skin segments. In addition, the blood supply, the drainage of associated tissues, the hormone system, and more inconspicuous regions that influence the pain region via the fascial muscles and posture, for example, as well as the perception of pain, including the latest findings in pain research, and our decades of experience in the anamnesis, examination and treatment of pain enable us to help you competently.
