The aim here is to return oneself from a stressful situation to a normal physical state by voluntarily inducing trembling of muscles and connective tissue (technical term: myofascial vibration).
This is a natural reaction in many animals: involuntary strong trembling immediately after a threatening situation causes the hormone balance and nervous system to gradually stop overreacting.
We humans have lost this natural, balancing reaction.
However, we can relearn it and use it for our health.
Using exercises to initiate a process of muscle vibration can be traced back to certain yoga styles, Chi Kung as well as Haruchica Noguchi, Alexander Lowen, Mantak Chia, David Berceli and other practitioners in the field of body-oriented psychotherapy.
Basically, any exercise that strains the leg muscles in such a way that trembling is triggered by muscle fatigue is suitable.
I practise myofascial vibration for a few minutes every evening to release the tension that has built up during the day.
